8' x 12' is a good size and you'll find the hem on this 1:1.5 hoist to fly ratio U.S. Flag will hold a hem longer then a 1:1.6 ratio or 1:1.9 ratio U.S. Flag. This is because of the U.S. Flag rule: smaller and or shorter last longer.
This nylon U.S. Flag can be seen for miles. High visibility is a big reason some of our clients buy this nylon 8' x 12' U.S. Flag over the 8' x 12' polyester-2 version. Polyester-2, although longer lasting than nylon, is more like cotton material which reduces the long range visibility of a U.S. Flag. Nylon will light up brightly in the sun. Even from extremely far away you can spot the red and white movement of nylon, where polyester-2 is impossible to see far.
